Yoga, Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Energy and Movement
Our instructors are inspired by wisdom traditions from around the world. All our staff and instructors have backgrounds in various self-growth and inner awareness methodologies. For instance, yoga postures and simple meditation techniques can bring you greater clarity of mind, inner peace, and an increased sense of well-being. These practices help prepare you for a deeper understanding during your studies, travel, and internship, helping to lead you forward through your unfolding self-growth. Yoga postures offer an emphasis on inner awareness and energy control. Experience each asana as a natural expression of a higher state of consciousness enhanced by the use of affirmations. Qi gong, is a practice of integrating aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing, and meditation. Tai Chi generally provides health benefits through specific movements that improve balance, suppleness and circulation. Learning a sequence of movements can improve cognitive function such as concentration; the social atmosphere can sometimes forge friendships and alleviate loneliness and anxiety; and the exercise itself can boost a person’s mood and alleviate depression.
During your time in the New Horizons Gap Year, you will also have opportunities for traditional Western sports, such as volleyball, basketball, hiking, and biking.
