About Us
The Ananda Institute of Alternative Living was founded in 2003 by Sara and Nakula Cryer, two people who have dedicated their life to serving and helping others. Sara and Nakula are lifetime members of the Ananda Monastic Order, a group of about 400 people who follow the universal teachings of Paramhansa Yogananda, author of Autobiography of a Yogi. Together, they have spent over 50 years of their life in service to others, working in a variety of endeavors within the Ananda Communities. The creation of this institute is an offering to God and to the vision of their friend and teacher, Swami Kriyananda, founder of Ananda, who’s life has been a model and inspiration for them.
